What are the requirements for a disabled parking bay in Australia?
Under AS/NZS 2890.6, an accessible parking bay must be 2400 mm wide × 5400 mm long, with an adjacent shared zone of the same size, a bollard, and the international symbol of access painted on the pavement. The National Construction Code sets how many accessible bays your site needs, typically one per 50 spaces for retail. Faded symbols are a compliance risk, not a cosmetic one
A disabled symbol that can’t be clearly seen no longer meets the standard, and DDA complaints are public-driven: anyone can lodge one.
